The great iPad

This past weekend my boyfriend and I finally purchased the great piece of technology known as the iPad. I am very excited to explore this technology and am interested in what it all has to offer. I am curious as to what I can do with it, espcecially things related to teaching. I know very little about what is all on the web, including the iPad, except for the things I have been introduced to in this class. I was wondering if there were some apps out there that are the "must haves". Anything else would be great to know. I finally have something apple and hopefully soon in the near future I can get an iPhone.

Tech Task #7

Using IFTTT was very easy to use and a great way to get information all in one place. I really enjoyed using it and had fun. I activated facebook, twitter and my blog. I browsed a couple recipes and it is another great way to get more information. For the first recipe, I am just using the one for thanking people who will follow me on twitter in the future. I am browsing a couple more and will be using a couple more recipes. All in all, IFTTT is a great thing to have and it was super easy!  

Comic Life

So here is an example of comic life when I made a science lesson. There are so many different ways that you can organize the boxes, words and so on. There are close to a hundred different fonts that you can choose from. There are also a lot of colours as well. It just gives an assignment or whatever you choose to create, a fun and edgy look to it. It is not just a plain paper with white and black writing on it anymore. Students may actually look at it and may be interested in it more. Just an idea for future paper assignments. 

Tech Task #5.1

Here I made an acrostic poem collage. I used each letter from my name and went onto flickr, along with a few of my own pictures and searched for pictures that represents me. I then made it into a collage. I had fun creating this and I actually used a program called Comic Life for this as well. 

Still Working

I am working on a acrostic picture assignment and it is a part of Tech Task #5. It is taking me a little longer than I first thought but I wanted to post and give a little preview of what is going to be on it. I will leave you with the thoughts and wonders of what it might be. Final product will be finished tomorrow! For now here is what is on it:

Tech Task #4.1 Visual Literacy #2

Saskatchewan can be such a beautiful place. Beauty is all around you, all you have to do is take the time to stop, look and take it in. No matter the season, there is always something beautiful about it. All it takes is a couple minutes of your time to look and it will stay with you for a lifetime.  

Public Speaking

For many years now, I have been a part of a 4-H beef club. With being in 4-H there comes many duties and one of them is creating and saying a speech. Each member has to write there own speech and there are different age categories with certain time limits, for each age category. We then all come together and say them in front of judges, family members and people from the community. In our province there are 4 different levels you can move onto if you keep winning. First there is your own club, districts, regionals, provincials, and for the first time this year there is a national speaking competition. I have had great success in public speaking and enjoy it. This is my final year in 4-H and I am going out with a bang you could say. I am heading to the regional level which is taking place in Estevan, Saskatchewan in April. I am very grateful for all these opportunities I have been given. Public speaking is something that is very important and 4-H has helped me with that. I am now very confident and I am able to speak in front of big crowds. Public speaking has also helped me with my teaching abilities as well. I will be practicing for the next month and will be working hard to try and get to the provincial level.
